It never actually existed. They did not approach Tim Burton about doing a Batman 3. He had ideas, they just talked him out of it. They approach Joel Schumacher, but only if Tim Burton hired him, because he cannot make the film without his friend. Schumacher went to New York and had lunch with Burton, and Burton hired Schumacher to direct after they had lunch. Burton met Lee and Janet Scott Batchler and he and Schumacher had meetings with The Batchlers and Burton said to them that Batman is about duality. And he said "yes", and The Batchlers got the job. Burton went on to do Ed Wood and he gave Schumacher his input during pre-production while Schumacher was filming The Client (based on the John Grisham book).
